It gives me immense pride and pleasure to welcome you to ISECTCON 2027 KOLKATA, the 27th Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Extracorporeal Technology (ISECT), to be held on 19th & 20th February 2027 at the magnificent Taj Taal Kutir, Kolkata.

For more than four decades, ISECTCON has been a vibrant platform for the perfusion fraternity—bringing together knowledge, experience, innovation and excellence in patient care.

Kolkata has always been a city of new beginnings. It was here that the first independent National Conference of ISECT was held, marking an important milestone in our journey. And now, history rises again!

ISECTCON 2027 marks another significant milestone with an international dimension being added to our national conference. For the first time in India, the FAPS International Conference will be held on 18th February 2027, creating a unique opportunity for global interaction, knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Our theme, “Perfusion 360°: Innovation, Precision & Patient Care,” reflects our vision of embracing the rapidly changing world of technology while keeping our greatest priority at the centre—the patient.

We are entering an extraordinary era of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Humanoid Robotics, Automation and Quantum Computing. These technologies will transform the operating room and the practice of extracorporeal technology.

The question before us is not simply, “Will technology replace the perfusionist?”

The real question is:

“Will technology create a more advanced, more capable and more indispensable perfusionist?”

Tomorrow's perfusionist will be much more than a pump operator. The profession will increasingly evolve towards precision perfusion, predictive monitoring, intelligent CPB, advanced ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, data-driven decision-making and technology-assisted patient care.

AI can calculate.
Machines can monitor.
Robots can assist.
Algorithms can predict.

But the perfusionist will understand, interpret, anticipate, decide, act and take responsibility.

Technology will not diminish our profession—it will challenge us to learn more, think differently and evolve continuously.

The perfusionist of the future will need to be a clinician, physiologist, innovator, researcher and technology expert, working alongside intelligent machines rather than competing with them.

For our young perfusionists, this changing landscape also opens exciting new career pathways in advanced perfusion, ECMO, MCS, research, AI, data science, medical technology, robotics, digital health and innovation.

ISECTCON 2027 is an opportunity to share scientific advances, learn from experienced colleagues, encourage young professionals, and strengthen perfusion practice together.

As the Organising President, it is both an honour and privilege for me to lead this landmark and remarkable event, which brings together the Clinical Perfusionists, Clinicians, Researchers, Paramedics and industry experts from across the country and beyond the country.

This Conference is not only a gathering — it is a celebration of our shared commitment to advancing Extracorporeal Technology, to explore the latest innovations through patient outcomes, knowledge sharing and professional collaboration.

An International Academic Collaboration

This ISECTCON 2027 takes on an international dimension with the organisation of a special International Conference jointly hosted by the Federation of Asian Perfusion Societies (FAPS) and the Indian Society of Extra-Corporeal Technology (ISECT) .

The international conference will be held on 18th February 2027 at Taj Taal Kutir, New Town, Rajarhat, Kolkata , bringing together eminent perfusionists, clinicians, researchers, academicians, and professionals from across Asia and beyond.

This landmark collaboration between FAPS and ISECT represents an important step towards strengthening regional and international academic exchange in perfusion and extracorporeal life support.

It will provide a valuable platform for sharing diverse clinical experiences, advancing research and innovation, discussing emerging technologies, and fostering meaningful professional collaborations across Asian countries.

We warmly welcome our international colleagues and look forward to building stronger bridges of knowledge, friendship, and cooperation through this important gathering.

The International Conference on 18th February 2027 will be followed by ISECTCON 2027 – Kolkata on 19th and 20th February 2027, creating a three-day academic celebration dedicated to learning, scientific exchange, professional development, and international collaboration in the field of extracorporeal technology.

This year is particularly significant as we move towards the vision of “One Nation, One Syllabus” for perfusion education.

A common academic framework has the potential to promote uniformity in education, strengthen competency-based training, and create consistent professional standards for perfusionists across the country.

ISECT warmly welcomes this progressive approach and remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen the future of the profession.

We also extend our wholehearted welcome to the guidelines, directions, and regulatory framework of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) .

We believe that appropriate implementation of national standards will further enhance the quality, recognition, and professional development of clinical perfusion services in India.
